January 25th, 2013 by

New bath mat, knit with #17 needles and 5 skeins of Knit Collage.

The builder? Tony. Tony is 6′ 7″ tall. He is building my new bathroom to go with my new bath mat.

Knit first, build later.

Look at me!

Okay, look at the guy if you must. Nice. Right?

What is Tink praying for?  Just a quick wink would be appreciated.

Prayer obviously not specific enough.

“Wool Ball Fight” in Warsaw

February 20th, 2011 by

In Warsaw, the locals recently celebrated International Cat Day with a Wool Ball Fight in front of the Royal Castle. Although I don not really have an affinity for cats, the “yarn war” part sounds good to me. Where is our Royal Castle in the USA? Yarns in the Farms, natch.

I want to have a yarn fight. Save your odd skeins of yarn. The official launch of International Goofball Day coming soon, to be celebrated in the vacant lot next door to Yarns in the Farms.

The best guy

January 12th, 2011 by

This is Bob.

So, Bob comes into the Yarns in the Farms looking for a Christmas stocking for his adoring wife. Alas, he finds that there are no ready-made stockings to be had. He must make it himself. Alas again, he cannot knit.

BUT, we have an old felted woolen poncho from someone’s stint as a foreign exchange student in some South American country in 1969. AND some of sister Lou’s Texas bird feathers. Would he like to use those as inspiration?

Yes-sir-ee-Bob! He sits at the shop table, takes the old poncho, scissors, needle-felting tools, fleece, and feathers, and viola!

By the way, these are sister Lou’s birds…

And THIS is Bob’s magnus opus! Next year he will be teaching the class, don’t you think?
